In the offshore industry operational hours are valuable and uptime is critical. Most people would agree that vessel motions currently have a larger than preferred effect on the safety and costs of offshore operations.
The market requires a solution that increases the window for offshore helicopter landings in severe weather conditions.
Bayards Aluminium constructions, a worldwide recognized specialist when it comes to lightweight and maintenance free structures for the offshore industry has paired up with Barge Master, a pioneer in motion compensated equipment for the offshore industry, to design the first aluminium Motion Compensated Helideck.
The new Motion Compensated Helideck (MCH) is driven by three actuators compensating two translations (sway and heave) and one rotation (roll) of the vessel it is installed on. This ensures that the platform stays in an earth fixed steady position and that the influence of sea induced vessel motions will no longer be a limiting factor for offshore operations.
Both Bayards and Barge Master will be at OTC Houston 2014, at booth 2531 in Hall D.
