Barge Master nominated for Offshore Energy Best Innovation Award
18 October 2016Barge Master is proud to announce that the BM-T40, our motion compensated pedestal crane, is nominated for the Offshore Energy Best Innovation Award. The Award for “Best Innovation in Offshore Energy” is intended to highlight the best innovation in the entire offshore energy market, within the last two years (2015 and 2016). This innovation (project or technology) has to provide significant benefits (safety, cost reductions, efficiency etc.) beyond existing technologies, and has to be proven through full-scale application or successful prototype testing.
The jury decided that Barge Master’s BM-T40 is in the top three of best innovations this year and should compete for the title of Best Innovation of 2016. The winner will be announced during the Offshore Energy Opening Gala Dinner on the 24th of October at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. Barge Master T40 motion compensated pedestal crane
Barge Master develops motion compensation systems for the offshore industry. These systems compensate vessel motions, creating a platform that is not moving with respect to the stationary fixed world. The systems increase the safety and workability of offshore operations which results in a significant cost reduction for the client. The Barge Master T40 system compensates the roll, pitch and heave motions of a knuckle boom crane. By designing the hydraulic system inside of a pedestal, it has a very small footprint allowing any vessel to easily accommodate the motion compensated crane. It enables safe transfer of loads or personnel, fully compensated up to significant wave height of 3 meters. The first Barge Master T40 was sold to Royal Wagenborg for a NAM/Shell charter for maintaining gas platforms in the North Sea. The first one and a half year have been a great success, with a workability of 330 days in the first year. The BM-T40 delivers on its promise, and therefor platform cranes and jack-ups are becoming obsolete.
Offshore Energy Exhibition
Barge Master will be present at the Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference (OEEC) in Amsterdam, on the 25th and 26th of October. The OEEC is the biggest offshore energy event in the Netherlands, with 650 participants and visitors from over 80 different countries. This annual event is focused on the complete offshore energy industry, from oil & gas to wind and marine energy.
